{"470171":{"#nid":"470171","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Robotics Ph.D. Student Receives First Georgia Robotics Fellowship for Women and Underrepresented Minorities","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EPriyam\u0026nbsp;Parashar, a first-year student in the Robotics Ph.D. Program at Georgia Tech, received the first Georgia Robotics Fellowship, established earlier this year by local non-profit Georgia Robotics.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAwarded each year to an incoming Georgia\u0026nbsp;Tech Ph.D. student, the fellowship is\u0026nbsp;available to women and underrepresented minority students accepted to Georgia Tech\u2019s Robotics Ph.D. program through the School of Interactive\u0026nbsp;Computing.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe intent of the award is to help Georgia Tech increase the number of women and minorities in robotics and computing, and it will be awarded to admitted Ph.D. students who have\u0026nbsp;demonstrated significant academic accomplishments and potential.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cWe have far too few women and members of certain minorities, such as African Americans and Hispanics, working in robotics and computing,\u201d said Henrik Christensen, KUKA Chair of\u0026nbsp;Robotics and executive director of Georgia Tech\u2019s Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines. \u201cAt Georgia Tech, we\u2019re striving to change this in a number of ways.
