475171 news 1449067188 1653584976 Middle schoolers from Jesup, Georgia participated in a day of STEM+C at Georgia Tech's campus in Savannah, Georgia on November 5, 2015. STEM+C includes computing in science, technology engineering, and math activities. Students in grades six, seven, and eight at Marth Puckett Middle in Wayne County, Georgia created video games, developed augmented reality projects to bring their school work to life, and made two different rockets and launched them in this fun-filled day at Georgia Tech Savannah.

The trip was the result of a collaborative partnership and effort between the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC), Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, Wayne County School System, and Rayonier Advanced Manufacturing Materials. CEISMC provided high quality experiences, and Girl Scouts secured funding and partners to benefit from this STEM initiative. Girls and boys were able to participate in this unique opportunity.

"When we needed a STEM partner for this project, we naturally thought of CEISMC and Georgia Tech," said Casey Gainey, Membership Manager for Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia.

"This was the best field trip I have ever been on. I can't wait to come back. My students learned so much," said teacher Hannah Martin at the conclusion of the field trip.
