Hausman\u003C\/a\u003E is Professor of English and the Edward S. Diggs Professor in the Humanities at Virginia Tech, where she has taught since the fall of 1995. She is also Professor at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke. She is the author of\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EChanging Sex: Transsexualism, Technology, and the Idea of Gender\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;(1995), \u003Cem\u003EMother\u0027s Milk: Breastfeeding Controversies in American Culture\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;(2003), and\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EViral Mothers: Breastfeeding in the Age of HIV\/AIDS\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;(2011), as well as coeditor of\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EBeyond Health, Beyond Choice: Breastfeeding Constraints and Realities\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;(2012). Professor Hausman teaches courses in medical humanities, medical rhetoric, theories of the body, feminist and literary theory, and women\u2019s literature. She is a faculty affiliate in the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/liberalarts.vt.edu\/academics\/graduate-programs\/doctoral-programs-list\/phd-in-sociology\/womens-and-gender-studies.html\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EWomen\u0027s and Gender Studies program\u003C\/a\u003E, the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.sts.vt.edu\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EScience and Technology Studies graduate program\u003C\/a\u003E, and the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.aspect.vt.edu\/graduate\/index.html\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EASPECT graduate program\u003C\/a\u003E, and was the founding coordinator and faculty advisor for the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/blogs.lt.vt.edu\/msoc\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Euniversity minor in Medicine and Society\u003C\/a\u003E.
