Announcement of Smith's appointment was made August 14. She will serve on the editorial team until December 31, 2017.

As an associate editor,  Smith will be charged with ensuring the quality material published in the journal, which is read by academics and industry professionals worldwide.

In addition to this appointment, Smith serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Fluids and Structures, the Journal of the American Helicopter Society, and The Aeronautical Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
