{"503111":{"#nid":"503111","#data":{"type":"event","title":"\u2018Lost in the Stacks Live\u2019 March 1 at Eddie\u2019s Attic","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EWREK 91.1 FM\u2019s venerable, eclectic show \u201cLost in the Stacks\u201d will present the first-ever stage performance of the program, \u201cLost in the Stacks Live!,\u201d Tuesday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Eddie\u2019s Attic in downtown Decatur.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ELost in the Stacks \u2013 the one-and-only Research Library Rock \u2019n\u2019 Roll radio show, produced by the Georgia Tech Library and WREK Atlanta \u2013 is known for its off-kilter mix of library talk and music, as hosts Ameet Doshi and Charlie Bennett free-associate an hour of music, interviews and library talk every Friday for lunch.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EFor the live event, Doshi and Bennett picked a theme \u2013 \u201cGeorgia Blood and Southern Love\u201d \u2013 to highlight the rock-and-roll sensibility of Lost in the Stacks and bring together some of their favorite Atlanta and Georgia-based writers, scholars and musicians for a celebration of local writing and music.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EFor Bennett, it\u2019s a natural progression for the show.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cI love the idea of being in the room with a band and connecting with the audience face-to-face, and it seemed like we should go for a more immediate, visceral theme, so \u2026 blood and love,\u201d he said.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cGeorgia Blood and Southern Love\u201d will feature in-person interviews with: Augusta crime writer Brian Panowich, whose first novel, \u201cBull Mountain,\u201d was one of Amazon\u2019s Best Books of the Year in 2015; Hollis Gillespie, an award-winning humor writer, Atlanta columnist, and writing teacher; and Dr. Monica C. Miller, Assistant Director of the Writing and Communication Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Flannery O\u2019Connor scholar.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAtlanta blues band Chickens and Pigs, led by singer-songwriter Jeff Evans, will provide the trademark, thematically connected, music sets. The band will kick off the evening with an opening two-song set, followed by additional sets in between the guest interviews and a final, closing piece. The AJC Decatur Book Festival is sponsoring the event.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ELost in the Stacks, on-air since 2010, has broadcast more than 280 episodes on subjects as disparate as bookbinding and the moon landing, preserving digital audio and typography, and oceanography and bicycles, approaching each as a chance to speak informally on the role of information, libraries and archives.
