In the past, he also served on the editorial board of the \u003Cem\u003ESIAM Journal of Scientific Computing\u003C\/em\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026Ccedil;ataly\u0026uuml;rek was the founding general chair of the inaugural ACM International Health Informatics Symposium in 2010, the program chair of the 2014 ACM Conference on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology and Health Informatics (ACM-BCB), the IEEE International Parallel \u0026amp; Distributed Processing Symposium\u0026nbsp;(IPDPS) workshop chair from 2010 to 2015, the algorithms track chair for SuperComputing 2015 and IPDPS 2016, and general chair of ACM-BCB 2016.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026Ccedil;ataly\u0026uuml;rek\u0026nbsp;serves on the program and organizing committees of numerous international conferences. He is an IEEE Fellow, a member of ACM and SIAM, the 2016-2017 chair for IEEE TCPP, and vice-chair of ACM Special Interest Group on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Biomedical Informatics (SIGBio) for the 2015-2018 term.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026Ccedil;ataly\u0026uuml;rek has co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, invited book chapters, and papers. His main research areas are in parallel computing, combinatorial scientific computing, and biomedical She actively provides expert diagnosis and resolution of complex technical issues with High Performance Computing (HPC) resources; leverages HPC software and application stack, including compilers, scientific libraries and user applications to effectively run on HPC environment; educates campus-wide HPC community, teaching courses including introduction to Linux, intermediate Linux, introduction to Python and Python for Data Analysis courses; and does on-going research on big data with school of computational science and engineering (CSE) faculties. She is awarded the title of Adjunct Associate Professor by CSE to better serve campus HPC community in both teaching and research.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBefore joining Georgia Tech, she was an assistant scientist at mathematics and computational science division at Department of Energy (USDOE) Ames Laboratory, where she gained extensive experience with multi-disciplinary research team and worked closely with world-class domain scientists from physics, chemistry and fusion energy. The projects she participated in included scientific workflows and data management system for nuclear physics applications, GPU computing for large scale quantum chemistry applications, concurrent data processing for fusion simulation through distributed component infrastructure, and so much more.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EHer research interests broadly span parallel\/distributed scientific computing, software interface design for monolithic scientific applications, multi-physics and multi-code coupling, multilevel parallelism support for Multi-Physics coupling, data management and provenance for scientific applications, big data infrastructure design and implementation, and data analytics for large graph dataset.She has been served as program committee member for various conferences including HPC, ICCS, ICCSA, CBHPC, ICPP, and she also was vice program general chair, program general chair for HPC2012 and HPC2013, now she sits in program steering committee for HPC since 2014.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ECurrently her primary interest focuses on tackling big data issues with using Hadoop and Spark in graph database, security and streaming data, while she is closely working with professor Polo Chau\u0027s group.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EDr. Liu graduated from Indiana University at Bloomington in 2009 with a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science. One of only four federally funded Big Data Hubs in the nation, the South Hub services Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Texas.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EFormerly, she was with the National Science Foundation in the directorate of Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE-OAD) working on the Big Data research program, as well as Big Data policies and priority goals for the foundation. She worked with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy to create the National Data Science Organizers Group, which facilitates data science groups to address national \u201cGrand Challenge\u201d problems. She sat on the NITRD interagency Big Data Senior Steering group charged with strategic planning for Big Data research funded by the federal government.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EDr. The goals of his research are to model human creativity in practical tasks such as conceptual design of complex systems, to develop interactive tools for aiding people in creative tasks, and to invent computational systems that are themselves creative. His research explores analogical thinking, systems thinking, visual thinking, and meta-thinking as fundamental processes of creativity. His current projects investigate analogical thinking and systems thinking in biologically inspired engineering design, analogical thinking and visual thinking on intelligence tests, and systems thinking and meta-thinking in self-adaptation of game-playing agents. Related projects focus on systems thinking and meta-thinking in learning about ecological systems in middle school science, analogical thinking and systems thinking in learning about biologically inspired design.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAshok is a member of the Organizing Committee of the conference series on Advances on Cognitive Systems, and the Steering Committee of the conference series on Theory and Application of Diagrams. At GT, Vetter is a Joint Professor in the Computational Science and Engineering School of the College of Computing, and the Principle Investigator and Project Director for the NSF Track 2D Experimental Computing Facility for large scale heterogeneous computing using graphics processors.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EVetter earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He joined ORNL in 2003, after stints as a computer scientist and project leader at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The coherent thread through his research is developing rich architectures and software systems that solve important, real-world high performance computing problems. Currently, Vetter\u0027s research addresses problems in analyzing new architectures for HPC using measurement, modeling, and simulation. Fujimoto","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EDr. Richard Fujimoto is a Regents\u0027 Professor in the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received the Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from the University of California (Berkeley) in 1980 and 1983 (Computer Science and Electrical Engineering) and B.S. degrees from the University of Illinois (Urbana) in 1977 and 1978 (Computer Science and Computer Engineering). He has been an active researcher in the parallel and distributed simulation community since 1985. Among his current activities he is the technical lead concerning time management issues for the DoD High Level Architecture (HLA) effort. He is an area editor for ACM Transactions on Modeling and Computer Simulation, and has also been chair of the steering committee for the Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Simulation, (PADS) since 1990. He is an NSF CAREER Award recipient, an investigator on several NSF and NIH awards, was a distinguished speaker in the IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Visitors Program, and a member of the IBM PERCS team for the DARPA High Productivity Computing Systems program. Dr. Bader serves on the Research Advisory Council for Internet2, the Steering Committees of the IPDPS and HiPC conferences, and is the General Chair of IPDPS 2010 and Chair of SIAM PP12. He is an associate editor for several high impact publications including the ACM Journal of Experimental Algorithmics (JEA), IEEE DSOnline, and Parallel Computing, has been an associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems (TPDS), is an IEEE Fellow and a Member of the ACM. Dr. Bader\u0027s interests are at the intersection of high-performance computing and computational biology and genomics. He conducts research in high performance computing, bioinformatics and systems biology, combinatorial scientific computing, and applied algorithms. He pioneered the development of parallel methods in computational biology, and contributed to the assembly and analysis of complex plant genomes. His group is currently focused on developing bioinformatics methods for high-throughput DNA sequencing, particularly error correction and genome assembly. In systems biology, his group is working on network inference methods using mutual information and Bayesian approaches, and network analysis techniques to further the knowledge of partially characterized pathways. His contributions in scientific computing lie in parallel Fast Multipole Method, domain decomposition methods, spatial data structures, and applications in computational electromagnetics and materials informatics. Aluru is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). He is a recipient of the NSF Career award (1997), IBM faculty award (2002), and Swarnajayanti fellowship from the Government of India (2007).
