CS PhD Student Wins Intel Fellowship

Vishakha Gupta, a Ph.D. student in computer science, has been awarded an doctoral fellowship from Intel Corp. for the 2009-10 academic year. Gupta, whose adviser is Professor Karsten Schwan, works in the Center for Experimental Research in Computer Systems (CERCS).

Gupta's research interests are in software for heterogeneous many-core systems, and her thesis is titled, “Coordinated System Level Resource Management for Heterogeneous Many-core Platforms.” Originally from Nagpur, India, she is also interested in embedded systems. After graduation, Gupta plans to pursue a research career.

Intel’s fellowship program is highly competitive. The awards cover tuition and provide a stipend, and recipients receive both a connection to an Intel technical leader working in their area of expertise and a travel grant to meet with that person.
