Each year, FLL releases a new challenge in late August which consists of three components: robot game, project, and core values. Directed by coaches, the teams conduct research on the science behind these challenges and design an innovative solution to solve the problem while practicing the core values. Using the LEGO MINDSTORMS technology, the teams must design, build, and program a robot to overcome these challenges and compete on a thematic playing field.
