51227 news 1265751655 1475895876 <![CDATA[Computing Faculty Member Named to AP Test Development Team]]> Barbara Ericson, director of computer science outreach at the College, has been named to the national College Board committee that helps guide and shape policies governing the use and direction of the Advanced Placement exam in computer science.

Ericson and the other seven members of the AP Computer Science Development Committee will help establish a set of skills and knowledge that successful test-takers should be able to demonstrate and will help determine the test content based on data including feedback from a national curriculum survey of teaching faculty.

“Barbara has been a long time supporter of the AP Computer Science program, and we are pleased to welcome her to the Development Committee,” said Lien Diaz, associate director of math curriculum for the College Board’s Advanced Placement Program. “We will rely on her experience at Georgia Tech to ensure content alignment and proper exam question rigor to the typical curriculum of college entry Computer Science 1 and 2 courses.”

Members of the committee, a mix of high school and college faculty involved with teaching relevant college undergraduate courses, may serve up to four years.
