Computing Student Kamesh Madduri Wins Honorable Mention from ACM/IEEE-CS HPC Fellowship

Kamesh Madduri, a PhD student at the College of Computing has won a
special mention at the ACM/IEEE-CS High Performance Computing Fellows
for 2007. He has been invited to the SC 07 Award session on Thursday,
November 16, in Reno, Nevada to receive a certificate documenting the
recognition. The selection committee has informed him that it was very
impressed with his "research excellence, academic progress, the
potential of his plan of study to enhance HPC-related skills and his
use of HPC resources."

Madduri is a PhD candidate under Professor David Bader. His research
areas include high performance computing, parallel graph algorithms,
computational biology and novel computer architectures. His
dissertation is on efficiently solving large-scale graph traversal,
centrality and shortest path problems on HPC systems. He has an
undergraduate degree in CS from the Indian Institute of Technology
(IIT), Madras.

About the HPC Fellowship Program

ACM/IEEE-CS HPC Ph.D. Fellowship Program ia a fellowship fund for
worthy students who are studying topics in high performance computing, networking, storage and analysis. The selection committee
has representatives from the Association for Computing Machinery, the IEEE
Computer Society, the ACM Special Interest Group on Computer
Architecture and the SC Conference Series.
