Dr. McGruder has served as Associate Director of\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nDevelopment for the College for the past four years.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0022By creating this new development post, Georgia Tech has recognized\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nthe potential for further growth in Computing,\u0022 said Rich DeMillo, John\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nP. Imlay, Jr. Dean\u00a0 of Computing. \u0022We feel quite fortunate that Juan\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nwill bring his experience in working at the College level to building\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nlasting relationships between the School of\u00a0 Computer Science and its\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nalumni and industrial partners.\u0022\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EDr. McGruder will report to Ellen Zegura, Chair of the School of\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nComputer Science, and Mary Alice Isele, Director of Development for the\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nCollege of Computing.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EAs the chief development officer for the School of Computer Science,\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nDr. McGruder\u0027s primary responsibility will include the design and\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nimplementation of a comprehensive program for private sector fund\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nraising, and development and implementation of the School\u2019s fund\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nraising plan during a major capital campaign.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Ch3\u003EAbout Dr. Juan A. McGruder\u003C\/h3\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EBefore joining the College of Computing at Georgia Tech, Dr.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nMcGruder was Director of Development and Assistant Professor of\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nEducation at Clark Atlanta University (CAU). Previously, Dr. McGruder\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nserved as Assistant Director of the Consortium for the Advancement of\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nPrivate Higher Education (CAPHE). Earlier, in his career he held\u003Cbr \/\u003E\npositions in student affairs at Radcliffe College, Simmons College,\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nWestern Kentucky University, the University of Louisville, Clark\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nAtlanta University, and Morehouse College. Dr. McGruder received a\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nPh.D. in education and human development (higher education) at\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nVanderbilt University in 1999 and holds various other degrees from\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nHarvard University, Clark Atlanta, Western Kentucky University, and\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nUniversity of Cambridge, England.\u003C\/p\u003E","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe College of Computing has announced that Dr. Juan McGruder will lead the newly established Office of Development for its School of Computer Science.
