  <title><![CDATA[School of Computer Science Establishes Development Office]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>The College of Computing has announced that <a title="Juan McGruder" href="resolveuid/4d166db7bac08fd642c9659d38b43314">Dr. Juan McGruder</a> will<br />
lead the newly established Office of Development for its School of<br />
Computer Science. Dr. McGruder has served as Associate Director of<br />
Development for the College for the past four years.</p>
<p>"By creating this new development post, Georgia Tech has recognized<br />
the potential for further growth in Computing," said Rich DeMillo, John<br />
P. Imlay, Jr. Dean  of Computing. "We feel quite fortunate that Juan<br />
will bring his experience in working at the College level to building<br />
lasting relationships between the School of  Computer Science and its<br />
alumni and industrial partners."</p>
<p>Dr. McGruder will report to Ellen Zegura, Chair of the School of<br />
Computer Science, and Mary Alice Isele, Director of Development for the<br />
College of Computing.</p>
<p>As the chief development officer for the School of Computer Science,<br />
Dr. McGruder's primary responsibility will include the design and<br />
implementation of a comprehensive program for private sector fund<br />
raising, and development and implementation of the School’s fund<br />
raising plan during a major capital campaign.</p>
<h3>About Dr. Juan A. McGruder</h3>
<p>Before joining the College of Computing at Georgia Tech, Dr.<br />
McGruder was Director of Development and Assistant Professor of<br />
Education at Clark Atlanta University (CAU). Previously, Dr. McGruder<br />
served as Assistant Director of the Consortium for the Advancement of<br />
Private Higher Education (CAPHE). Earlier, in his career he held<br />
positions in student affairs at Radcliffe College, Simmons College,<br />
Western Kentucky University, the University of Louisville, Clark<br />
Atlanta University, and Morehouse College. Dr. McGruder received a<br />
Ph.D. in education and human development (higher education) at<br />
Vanderbilt University in 1999 and holds various other degrees from<br />
Harvard University, Clark Atlanta, Western Kentucky University, and<br />
University of Cambridge, England.</p>]]></body>
