One focus area is the scientific study of technology\u0027s impact on humankind, and she is the editor-in-chief of \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/techscience.org\u0022\u003ETechnology Science\u003C\/a\u003E. Another focus area is data privacy, and she is the Director of the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/dataprivacylab.org\/index.html\u0022\u003EData Privacy Lab\u003C\/a\u003E at Harvard. She is widely credited with the observation that \u002287% of the U.S. population is uniquely identified by date of birth, gender, postal code\u0022 and has published work about the theory of k-anonymity.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESweeney formerly served as the chief technology officer at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/\u0022\u003EFTC\u003C\/a\u003E).
