527681 news 1461253188 1475896885 <![CDATA[Mock Trial Team Finishes in Fifth Place Overall at National Championship Tournament]]> Georgia Tech’s Mock Trial Team finished in third place in its division and fifth place overall at the American Mock Trial Association’s 32nd National Championship Tournament, which was held April 15-17 at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.

The tournament hosted 48 teams from colleges around the nation, and Georgia Tech’s team competed within the 24-team Kirkland and Ellis Division, finishing with 14 wins and 6 losses. During the closing ceremony, Sarah Stebbins, Georgia Tech Mock Trial president, was honored as an All-American Outstanding Attorney.

As a result of its success in the tournament, the team rose in the American Mock Trial Association’s Team Power Rankings, climbing from 117th to a ranking of 20th in the nation.

“Words cannot describe how proud we are of the students on this team, who have worked incredibly hard all year with us to achieve these results and national success,” said William Warihay, a practicing litigation attorney with Moore, Ingram, Johnson, and Steele who coaches the team alongside Andy McNeil.

Mock Trial activities are situated within the Pre-Law Program in the Ivan Allen College School of Public Policy and overseen by program director Robert Pikowsky.
