  <title><![CDATA[HSOC Symposium Explores Metropolitan Inequality]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>The Ivan Allen College School of History and Sociology at Georgia Tech hosted a symposium on metropolitan inequality in America entitled “Metropolitan Inequalities in a Globalizing Age: Inequalities and Opportunities” on April 22 at the Wardlaw Center.</p><p>The symposium examined metropolitan America’s recent past by investigating dimensions of inequality, metropolitan development, and the impact of globalization since the 1970s. The overall goal of the event was to foster a discussion between sociologists and historians to help forge a path for future inquiry.</p><p>Featured panelists from the Ivan Allen College included Christopher Le Dantec, assistant professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication, and Elizabeth Higginbotham, distinguished visiting professor in the School of History and Sociology. In addition, the panels were moderated by School of History and Sociology faculty members Mary McDonald, professor and Homer Rice Chair in Sports and Society, and Daniel Amsterdam, assistant professor.&nbsp;</p>]]></body>
