{"542421":{"#nid":"542421","#data":{"type":"news","title":"GT Computing Displays Expertise at Parallel Computing Conference","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech professors and researchers converged on the windy city of Chicago for the 30th Annual IEEE International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS), held May 23-27. \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIPDPS is devoted to parallel computing, and School of Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) Chair \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.cc.gatech.edu\/people\/david-bader\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EDavid Bader\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E and CSE Professor \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.cc.gatech.edu\/people\/srinivas-aluru\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ESrinivas Aluru\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E, both former IPDPS program chairs, continued their involvement by serving as steering committee members and program committee members for this year\u2019s event.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EBader gave a keynote address, titled \u201cMassive-scale Streaming Analytics,\u201d during the Graph Algorithms Building Blocks (GABB) workshop. Furthermore, Bader and Aluru also presented new research during the High Performance Computational Biology (HiCOMB) workshop. Associate Professor \u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.cc.gatech.edu\/people\/richard-vuduc\u0022\u003ERichard Vuduc\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003Ediscussed new research and served on two International Workshop on Automatic Performance Tuning (iWAPT) committees.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EPh.D. students Jammula Nagakishore, Indranil Roy, and Vipin Sachdeva released new research as well, contributing to the CSE\u2019s strong graduate student involvement. Additionally, recent CSE Ph.D. graduate Xing Liu (CSE, \u201915), a research staff member at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, presented his latest findings.
