Below are the top things to know about impending changes.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p1\u0022\u003EEmployees should talk with their managers and Human Resources representatives about questions or concerns, or visit \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/c.gatech.edu\/flsa\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003Ec.gatech.edu\/flsa\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Col\u003E\u003Cli\u003EIn June 2015, the U.S. Department of Labor proposed changing the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). In May, official changes were announced with a compliance deadline of Dec. 1.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EThe minimum salary threshold required for an employee to be exempt from overtime was raised from $23,660 annually to $47,476 annually.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EDecisions for an employee to be exempt or non-exempt were based on U.S. Department of Labor salary and duties tests and University System of Georgia and Institute policies and guidelines.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EThis change in no way reflects adversely on the value of employees\u2019 work or the importance of their contributions to Georgia Tech.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ENon-exempt employees are required to track time worked.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EConverted employees\u2019 pay (compensation) and benefits will remain the same.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EConverted employees will not lose accrued vacation time or sick time, and the accrual rate will not change.
