{"57839":{"#nid":"57839","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Online Art Exhibition Explores Atlanta\u0027s Beltline","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech College of Architecture\u0027s artist in residence Ruth Dusseault today launched Photos of the Beltline.org (\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.photosofthebeltline.org\u0022\u003Ewww.photosofthebeltline.org\u003C\/a\u003E), an ongoing Web-based public exhibition designed to describe the fragmented, 22-mile corridor that will become Atlanta\u0027s Beltline. Dusseult invites all college-level photography instructors and students in Atlanta to participate in Photos of the Beltline.org by reserving a pre-set section of the Beltline to photograph for a class assignment.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EVulcan Quarry is located in section five on the Photos of the Beltline exhibition map. Because of its proximity to the Beltline, this 100-year-old quarry is going to be transformed into a public park around a body of water.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe expansive Beltline is a linear path encircling the city center rather than one large space, making it difficult for most people to \u0022see\u0022 it, or to imagine the possibilities for development.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0022The Beltline could potentially become a new type of development that reflects the identity and typography of Atlanta and the Southeast,\u0022 says Dusseault. \u0022By photographing the Beltline, it is possible to reveal hidden aesthetic, historic, environmental and social values that reside there.\u0022\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Web site, designed by Brian Hardy and hosted by Tech\u0027s College of Architecture, allows visitors to simultaneously view high resolution photographs of a particular territory with the corresponding location on an interactive map and descriptive text from the photographer.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EInstructors can reserve a section for free on the Web site. Upon reservation, instructors will receive a password to be shared with participating students. Reservations expire at the end of each semester.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EPhotos of the Beltline will be featured in Urban Intervention: The Beltline at Georgia State University\u0027s Ernest G. Welch School of Art \u0026amp; Design Gallery January 10 - March 6, 2008.
