It is highly recommended that students first conduct a thorough self assessment of their strongest and favorite academic areas, interests, personality preferences, values, abilities, skills, and activities they enjoy. Career Services offers several assessment tools to help students explore possible pathways. Currently enrolled students are encouraged to make an appointment with a career counselor to learn more. \n\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe next step would be to gather information on available majors, related careers, and how these opportunities may fit the student\u2019s interests, preferences, and strengths. Students should review the Georgia Tech Catalog and talk with their academic advisors as well as people working in potential career choices. There are also a number of online resources available, including the Encyclopedia of Careers and Vocational Guidance, the Occupational Outlook Handbook \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.bls.gov\/oco\u0022\u003Ewww.bls.gov\/oco\u003C\/a\u003E, and the Georgia Career Information System (\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.gcic.peachnet.edu\u0022\u003Ewww.gcic.peachnet.edu\u003C\/a\u003E, User Name: gatechcs, Password: gcis1906), as well as other resources available at the Georgia Tech Career Services Library. The annual Georgia Tech Majors Fair on Thursday, October 21, from 11AM to 1PM is an excellent opportunity for students to meet with academic advisors, faculty, upper classmen, and alumni from all undergraduate degree programs. \n\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EStudents should also consider taking an introductory course in the major they are considering.
