Midterm exams present a challenge and can leave unprepared students worried about their final grades.\u0026nbsp;Luckily, the Georgia Tech Center for Academic Success is here to assist.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;You\u0026rsquo;ve got to finish the problem!\u0026rdquo; said Donald Pearl, director of the center.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAs a former\u0026nbsp;professor of physics and mathematics, Pearl understands the kinds of problems Georgia Tech\u0026nbsp;students face. With 25 years of experience as a professor and academic administrator, Pearl has worked at numerous colleges and with many student success programs. Most recently, he was responsible for the Complete College Georgia Initiatives of Georgia Perimeter College.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Georgia Tech Center for Academic Success offers a variety of programs to help students achieve their academic goals; however, many students are unfamiliar with this campus resource.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u0026ldquo;We\u0026rsquo;re not only here to help failing students,\u0026rdquo; Pearl said.\u0026nbsp;\u0026ldquo;The Center for Academic Success can help a B student become an A student, too.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe five main programs offered by the center are tutoring, academic coaching, workshops, Reboot, and the GT 2100 course. Each program has a unique goal to assist a unique type of student.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ETutoring\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ETutoring is offered by successful undergraduate students who have received training provided by the Center for Academic Success. Anyone can register for tutoring in more than 70 courses, primarily 1000 and 2000 levels. If a tutor is not yet available for a given course, the Center for Academic Success offers a link to send a tutor request. Sign up for tutoring\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/academicsupport.gatech.edu\/TracWeb40\/Default.html\u0022\u003Ehere\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAcademic Coaching\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EPearl describes\u0026nbsp;Academic Coaching as something\u0026nbsp;between advising and counseling.\u0026nbsp;Coaches are academic professionals\u0026nbsp;who are trained to help students with study techniques, time budgeting, and graduation tracking. Appointments typically last half an hour and are scheduled bi-weekly or monthly, and the coaches are able to work with a student\u0026rsquo;s availability. This course is required for students returning from academic dismissal and voluntary for students who are on academic probation. Students enrolled in the course will learn new study skills, habits, and time management techniques.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWorkshops\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Center for Academic Success offers various workshops, both online and in-person. They range in topics from time management and study strategies to exam preparation and goal setting. Students can register for workshops\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.success.gatech.edu\/workshop-registration-0\u0022\u003Ehere\u003C\/a\u003E. Upcoming workshops include the Procrastination Workshop by Michelle Tullier, executive director of the Center for\u0026nbsp;Career Discovery and Development, on Oct. 4, and the To Drop or Not Workshop on Oct. 14.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EReboot\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EReboot for Academic Success is a program for students who are not meeting their academic expectations. It is a voluntary program that includes a weekly seminar-style group session and opportunities to work with Center for Academic Success staff. \u003Cfont color=\u0022#0782c1\u0022\u003EThe next session of Reboot\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/font\u003Ewill be held Oct. 18 through\u0026nbsp;Nov. 22 on Tuesdays from 11:05 to\u0026nbsp;11:55 a.m. in Clough Commons, Room 127.
