<![CDATA[Besedes Presents NAFTA Trade Research in Helsinki]]>
Tibor Besedes, an associate professor in the Ivan Allen College School of Economics, presented his research on the three-country North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) during the European Trade Study Group Conference, which took place in Helsinki, Finland from September 9 - 11, 2016. The European Trade Study Group Conference is the largest annual gathering of trade economists in the world.
Besedes presented his paper “Phase out Tariff, Phase in Trade?,” which looks at whether different speeds in reductions of tariffs that took place after NAFTA have a differential impact on the growth of U.S. imports from NAFTA trading partners.
