  <title><![CDATA[Spectate, Shop, and Eat Your Way through Fall Break]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>The weather is finally starting to feel like fall, and with it, Fall Break.</p>

<p>Classes will not meet on Monday, Oct. 10 and Tuesday, Oct. 11, so students can guiltlessly check off some of the following items from their&nbsp;college bucket lists.</p>

<h3><strong>Georgia Tech Athletics</strong></h3>

<p>Support the Jackets in all arenas by attending one of these Georgia Tech sporting events. Entry is free with BuzzCard.</p>

<h3><strong>Shopping and Dining in Atlanta </strong></h3>

<p><a href="http://www.krogstreetmarket.com/">Krog Street Market</a></p>

<p>As a &ldquo;destination for Atlanta&rsquo;s intown culture,&rdquo;&nbsp;Krog Street Market is a great place to find a unique gift or a tasty meal. The market is designed to blend into the 1920&rsquo;s warehouse it was built into and includes market stalls with produce, goods, and prepared foods.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.poncecitymarket.com/">Ponce City Market</a></p>

<p>Ponce City Market offers a place for people to gather, eat, and shop. The National Trust for Historic Preservation recognized the market as part of the plan to &quot;move Atlanta forward while maintaining and emphasizing the city&rsquo;s unique history and culture.&quot;&nbsp;Ponce City Market includes retail shops, a Central Food Hall, and a connection to the Atlanta BeltLine.</p>

<p><a href="http://atlanticstation.com/">Atlantic Station</a></p>

<p>On Friday, Oct. 7, the 2016 Spooky Film Festival will begin at Central Park in Atlantic Station. The movie, <em>Twilight</em>, will be shown at dusk.</p>

<h3><strong>Outdoor Activities </strong></h3>

<p><a href="https://beltline.org/event/art-on-the-atlanta-beltline-performances-11-3-2/">BeltLine</a></p>

<p>Art on the Atlanta BeltLine will hold live performances&nbsp;from 11 a.m. to&nbsp;8:30 p.m. on Oct. 8 and 12 &ndash; 6 p.m. on Oct. 9 in the Historic Fourth Ward Park. <p><a href="http://atlantabg.org/">Atlanta Botanical Garden</a></p>

<p>The Atlanta Botanical Garden is getting into the fall spirit. Scarecrows in the Garden began this week and will continue throughout the month. This event features over 100 creative scarecrows handcrafted by businesses, individuals, schools, and organizations.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gwcca.org/park/visiting-the-park/">Centennial Olympic Park</a></p>

<p>Make the most of a visit to Centennial Olympic Park by stopping at the official Visitor Center, located on the south end of the park, adjacent to the Fountain of Rings, where&nbsp;brochures, travel maps, and volunteers are available to make it a great day at the park.&nbsp;</p>

<p><a href="http://www.zooatlanta.org/">Zoo Atlanta</a></p>

<p>Zoo Atlanta is&nbsp;open&nbsp;from 9:30 a.m. to&nbsp;5:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. Students can receive admission for $21.99 with their BuzzCard. (<em>For students over the age of 21, a new event, Sippin&rsquo; Safari, will be held from 4:30 to&nbsp;9:30 p.m. on Oct. 8.)</em></p>

<h3><strong>Special Events</strong></h3>

<p><a href="http://atlantapride.org/pride/">Atlanta Pride Festival</a></p>

<p>T<span>he 46th annual&nbsp;</span><span>Atlanta Pride Festival takes place&nbsp;Oct. 8 &ndash; 9 in Piedmont Park and will include&nbsp;musical performances, food, and the Atlanta Pride Parade.</span></p>

<p><a href="https://www.high.org/Programs/Programs/Events/2016-Events/First-Fridays/October-Serenbe">First Fridays at the High</a></p>

<p>From 6 &ndash; 9&nbsp;p.m., every first Friday of the month at the High Museum of Art includes drop-in artmaking, live performances, and refreshments. On Oct. 7, the event features Ghostly Guided Tours by Serenbe Playhouse, a Ronald Lockett panel discussion, music by DJ Kemit, and more. Everything is free with museum admission.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.oakhurstporchfest.org/">Oakhurst Porchfest</a></p>

<p>On Saturday, Oct. 8,&nbsp;from noon &ndash; 6 p.m., the neighborhood of Oakhurst will become a stage for anyone to walk around, hang out, and listen to a variety of musicians. This event was launched in Oakhurst last year and featured over 130 performances in four hours. <p>During fall break there will be no GIT FIT classes, and the Wilderness Outpost and Climbing Wall will be closed. In addition, there will be altered recreation swim and dive hours on&nbsp;Oct. 10&ndash;11.
