Georgia Governor Nathan Deal issued a proclamation in which he officially declared October 18 as German Day in Georgia and recognized Georgia Tech’s German Day celebration.
“This year, the Georgia Institute of Technology is celebrating Germany Day by providing information about opportunities abroad to their students,” Deal states in the proclamation.
Georgia Tech’s annual German Day celebration, which is hosted by the German program in the Ivan Allen College School of Modern Languages, is designed to showcase German academic and industry connections available to Georgia Tech students.
Highlights of German Day included a roundtable discussion about the benefits of a globally-focused education and a German career fair that brought representatives from companies such as Siemens, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz to campus. In addition, information tables were set up on campus in order to inform Georgia Tech students and faculty about German courses, the German Language for Business and Technology (LBAT) summer study abroad program, German Club, and other related activities.
