In this\u0026nbsp;scenario, traditional\u0026nbsp;approaches for\u0026nbsp;intelligent data analysis (i.e., statistical data\u0026nbsp;modeling, monitoring and\u0026nbsp;control) need to be revised in order to deal with\u0026nbsp;3D quality\u0026nbsp;features,\u0026nbsp;multi-stream signal data, noncontact image point clouds. Starting from real\u0026nbsp;industrial problems, some of the main\u0026nbsp;challenges to be faced in these research\u0026nbsp;fields\u0026nbsp;are discussed. Viable solutions to enhance zero-defect manufacturing via\u0026nbsp;in-line, in-situ\u0026nbsp;statistical process monitoring are presented. Special\u0026nbsp;attention is devoted to\u0026nbsp;opportunities arising in metal\u0026nbsp;Additve\u0026nbsp;Manufacturing.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003C!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003C!--[endif]--\u003E Bio:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBianca Maria Colosimo is Professor\u0026nbsp;in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Politecnico di\u0026nbsp;Milano, where she received her MSc\u0026nbsp;and PhD in Industrial Engineering. She spent almost one year at the\u0026nbsp;Pennsylvania State University (PSU) as a post-doc in 2001.\u0026nbsp;Since then, she is cooperating with\u0026nbsp;the\u0026nbsp;Engineering Statistics Laboratory, directed by E. del Castillo\u0026nbsp;(PSU).\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nHer\u0026nbsp;research interest is mainly in the area\u0026nbsp;of quality engineering (i.e. statistical process\u0026nbsp;monitoring, control\u0026nbsp;and optimization), with special attention to advanced\u0026nbsp;manufacturing processes.\u0026nbsp;On\u0026nbsp;these topics, she is\u0026nbsp;author of\u0026nbsp;100+\u0026nbsp;contributions, half of which have been\u0026nbsp;published in peer-reviewed international journals and\u0026nbsp;books.
