Professor of Psychology \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/psychology.gatech.edu\/people\/faculty\/337\u0022\u003EFrank Durso\u003C\/a\u003E will take over as interim chair on July 1, 2017.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDuring Weiss\u0026rsquo;s tenure, \u0026ldquo;the school has done well,\u0026rdquo; says College of Sciences Dean and Sutherland Chair Paul M. Goldbart. Among Weiss\u0026rsquo;s many achievements, Goldbart says, the undergraduate program has grown, a new \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/worksciencecenter.gatech.edu\/welcome-new-gt-work-science-center\u0022\u003EWork Science Center\u003C\/a\u003E has been launched, and the school has been a key partner in creating the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.cos.gatech.edu\/neuroscience\u0022\u003EB.S. in Neuroscience program\u003C\/a\u003E. The new degree program has started accepting students for the Fall 2017 semester.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;On behalf of the leadership team, I thank Howard warmly for his service to the school and the wider Georgia Tech community,\u0026rdquo; Goldbart says.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWeiss will continue his research in the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/weisslab.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EWork Experience Laboratory\u003C\/a\u003E, which he directs. The lab is \u0026ldquo;committed to understanding the first-person experience of work, from the immediate episodic feeling of what it is like to be working to the broader autobiographical narratives that people create to provide coherence for their work lives.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EUntil a new chair is named, Frank Durso will lead the School of Psychology. Durso directs the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.psychology.gatech.edu\/graduate\/engineering\u0022\u003EEngineering Psychology Program\u003C\/a\u003E, which focuses on understanding the capabilities and limitations of human performance and using the knowledge to design systems and environments to accommodate them.
