Joined by community, religious and political leaders, he called for full equality for Blacks and others cut off from the American dream. The march was a defining moment in the Civil Rights Movement, and is credited with leading to a host of legislation aimed at reducing racial and economic disparities.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHowever, almost 50 years after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.\u0026#39;s iconic \u0026quot;I Have a Dream\u0026quot; speech, data suggests that not enough has changed. The educational, economic and racial divide is as pronounced as ever -- giving rise to groups like Black Lives Matter and inspiring women, LGBTQ and other groups to rally for equal treatment under the law. Demands for affordable housing, quality schools, LGBTQ\/ Trans rights have become a mainstay in today\u0026#39;s political climate.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Measuring the Dream symposium looks critically at available data and explores issues of equity in the areas of Education, Health, and Criminal Justice.
