{"59091":{"#nid":"59091","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Symposium Explores Digital Games as Art","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EGames have always been part human creative expression, but only in the 20th century did games and game play become acknowledged as art. \u0022The Art History of Games\u0022  symposium taking place February 4-6, 2010 seeks to more clearly articulate the importance of games as a form of art. \n\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EChaired by Ian Bogost and Michael Nitsche who are faculty in the School of Literature, Communication, and Culture\u0027s Digital Media Graduate Program, and by John Sharp from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, the three-day colloquy will bring together academics and experts in the fields of game studies, art history, and related areas of cultural studies.   The conference will also premiere three commissioned art games by internationally-renowned artists and designers. The symposium will be held at the Rich Auditorium at the Woodruff Arts Center midtown.
