{"590938":{"#nid":"590938","#data":{"type":"news","title":"The College Celebrates the 2017 Spring Faculty and Staff Luncheon","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts Spring Faculty and Staff Recognition Luncheon was held on April 18, 2017.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDean Jacqueline Royster\u0026nbsp;recognized the accomplishments of the College throughout the year, including the introduction of three new research centers and\u0026nbsp;increased undergraduate enrollments for the second consecutive year.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ERoyster recognized Jamie Kazenstein, program coordinator in Enrollment and Student Affairs, for her \u0026ldquo;Ivan Allen expertise and her great instincts\u0026rdquo; as an asset to the College\u0026rsquo;s recruiting and student affairs efforts.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ERecipients of the Distinguished Staff Awards, also known as \u0026ldquo;Buzz\u0026rdquo; Awards were \u003Cstrong\u003EElizabeth Hyman\u003C\/strong\u003E (Public Policy),\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EFariah Majmundar\u003C\/strong\u003E (Modern Languages), and \u003Cstrong\u003EJoanna Jeskova\u003C\/strong\u003E (Dean\u0026rsquo;s Office) for their administrative services. \u003Cstrong\u003EJillann Hertel\u003C\/strong\u003E (LMC) received an award for Student Services. Each award carries a $1,000 check.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAssociate Dean of Undergraduate Students John Tone\u0026nbsp;introduced the Ivan Allen Student Advisory Board officer\u0026nbsp;who presented the Distinguished Teaching Awards. \u003Cstrong\u003EAlice Favero\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;(Public Policy)\u0026nbsp;received the award for non-tenure track faculty. \u003Cstrong\u003EJenna Jordan\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;(Nunn School)\u0026nbsp;received the award for tenure track faculty.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EFaculty members\u003Cstrong\u003E Richard Barke\u003C\/strong\u003E (Public Policy), \u003Cstrong\u003EShatakshee Dhongde\u003C\/strong\u003E (Economics), and \u003Cstrong\u003EMichael Wiedorn\u003C\/strong\u003E (Modern Languages) were honored as members of the Center for Learning and Teaching\u0026rsquo;s inaugural cohort of Provost\u0026#39;s Teaching and Learning Fellows.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDean Royster presented the Faculty Researcher Awards: \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Gold Star \u0026ndash; Level 1 awards recognize faculty who, for the first time, garner $100,000 or more in external research dollars. Recipients receive a $500 travel award. Gold Star 1 recipients are: \u003Cstrong\u003EMariel Borowitz, Stuart Goldberg, Mikhail Klimenko, and Willie Pearson\u003C\/strong\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Gold Star \u0026ndash; Level 2 awards recognize faculty who bring in external research dollars above $100,000 subsequent to the Gold Star 1 or have received prestigious fellowships. They receive\u0026nbsp;a $750 travel award. Recipients are:\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EMichael Hoffman, Michael Nitsche, Mark Zachary Taylor, and John Walsh.\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Million Dollar Club recognizes faculty who have accumulated more than $1 million dollars in research over time. Recognition includes a $1,000 travel fund. Members of the Club include:\u003Cstrong\u003E Ian Bogost, Danny Boston, Marilyn Brown, Carl DiSalvo, Ute Fischer, Vicki Galloway, Sy Goodman, Chris LeDantec, Brian Magerko, Julia Melkers, Helena Mitchell, Phil Shapira, and Adam Stulberg. \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Distinguished Faculty Researcher Award, carrying a one-time $20,000 research award, was awarded to \u003Cstrong\u003EMary Frank Fox\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;from the School of Public Policy.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Distinguished Service Award was posthumously awarded to \u003Cstrong\u003EThomas Lux\u003C\/strong\u003E, who was the Margaret T. and Henry C. Bourne, Jr. Chair in Poetry in the School of Literature Media, and Communication, as well as the director of Poetry@Tech.
