Interns Work with Margaret Kosal to Investigate Emerging and Next-Generation Technologies

During much of the Spring semester, there have been a couple of especially young faces around the Habersham building in the afternoon - two Atlanta Public Schools (APS) high school students. Working with Nunn School Associate Professor Margaret E Kosal and post-doc, Dr. Jon Huang, the two APS students investigated how emerging and next-generation technologies are playing a role in national defense and in a Third Offset Strategy for deterrence. One student explored nanotechnology and next-generation body armor, and the other looked at biotechnology and synthetic genomics. All of the Spring interns presented the findings of their research last Friday at the Marcus Nanotechnology Building.

The internship program is organized by GT’s Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology (IEN) and Southeastern Nanotechnology Infrastructure Corridor (SENIC) in conjunction with APS’ Gifted Internship Program. It seeks to connect talented juniors and seniors from APS high schools with ongoing research projects at Georgia Tech.
