{"591534":{"#nid":"591534","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Georgia Tech Among Top Participating Institutions at CHI 2017 ","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe Mile High City is transforming into the \u0026ldquo;Mile CHI City\u0026rdquo; this week (May 8-11) as scores of researchers from across the country and around the globe descend on Denver for the Association for Computing Machinery\u0026rsquo;s annual \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/chi2017.acm.org\/index.html\u0022\u003EConference on Human Factors in Computing Systems\u003C\/a\u003E (CHI).\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBetter known as CHI, the event is the premiere international \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.acm.org\/\u0022\u003EACM\u003C\/a\u003E conference on human-computer interaction (HCI).\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAmong the throng is the 29-person Georgia Tech contingent. The faculty and students representing Georgia Tech at CHI 2017 are from the College of Computing, Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, and the GVU Center. Together, they have 17 research papers and notes accepted as part of the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/chi2017.acm.org\/proceedings.html\u0022\u003Etechnical program\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech also boasts an expansive alumni network at CHI. These researchers, along with the faculty and student contingent, will take part in a variety of workshops, panels, courses, and other parts of the CHI technical program. Overall, Georgia Tech ranks in the top ten for participation among the 500 or so institutions represented at CHI 2017.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ETo keep up with Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s presence and all of the other research being presented at CHI, the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.gvu.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EGVU Center\u003C\/a\u003E has developed a \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.chi.gatech.edu\/2017\/\u0022\u003EGT@CHI2017 microsite\u003C\/a\u003E and a series of useful interactive visualizations.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAccording to Josh Preston, GVU Center communications officer, \u0026ldquo;These tools are a great way to create engagement with the global HCI community.
