(SAIC), the scientific, engineering, and technology applications corporation based in McLean, Virginia, has established the SAIC ROTC Scholarship Program at Georgia Tech. Ten talented undergraduates comprise the inaugural class of SAIC ROTC scholars, and their academic and personal lives have been touched in innumerable ways.\n\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe expendable scholarships have an enormous impact, especially for out-of-state students. As one recipient, an aerospace engineering major from Alabama, observed, \u201cI would not be where I am today without such support.\u201d Not only do they make a Georgia Tech education more affordable, but the SAIC ROTC scholarships also provide opportunities for extraordinary young men and women to reach their highest potential in leadership, service, and academic achievement. \n\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EColonel Sheri Andino, Air Force ROTC commander and professor of aerospace studies, notes that the ROTC program, which is housed in the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.iac.gatech.edu\u0022\u003EIvan Allen College of Liberal Arts\u003C\/a\u003E, demands so much of students\u2019 time for training and professional development that few are able to work to pay for their college expenses. This scholarship, she says, \u201callows them to focus more on their studies and on community service, and they\u2019re doing incredible things.\u201d \n\n\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EWhether preparing for a career in the U.S. Army Special Forces, as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Navy, or an aircraft maintenance engineer, SAIC ROTC scholars represent tomorrow\u2019s leaders, deeply committed to serving their country as well as their communities.
