  <title><![CDATA[United Nations University Institute]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>The&nbsp;United Nations University Institute on Computing and Society (UNU-CS)&nbsp;is a new research institute at the intersections of information and communication technologies and international development (ICTD) focusing on the key challenges faced by developing societies&nbsp;through high-impact innovations in&nbsp;computing and communication technologies.</p>

<p>UNU-CS&nbsp;is nurturing three ICTD research Labs which serve as our pillar conceptual research themes. Research Labs help to organize our people and work and our research projects affiliate with one or more Labs.&nbsp;UNU-CS Labsguide and connect our work though some experimental activities may sit outside their edges. Each Lab has a Contact Person who enables connections across projects and scholars and amplifies our communication and outreach.</p>

<p>Our inaugural research Labs are:</p>

<p>Digital Peace Lab: ICTs for peacebuilding and to support human security, respond to crises, and mitigate human displacement.</p>

<p>Gender Tech Lab: ICTs that promote women&rsquo;s empowerment and enable sustainable community led development.</p>

<p>Small Data Lab: ICTs that create actionable knowledge from local data, empower citizens with data they trust, and improve global datasets with local data.</p>

<p>The United Nations University Institute on Computing and Society (UNU-CS) is hiring information and communication technology and international development (ICTD) scholars and practitioners! Join a dynamic research start-up situated in the middle of the Pearl River Delta and the heart of the United Nations family. Conduct world-leading research while making policy impact.</p>

<p>SHORT-TERM STUDENT RESEARCH POSITIONS<br />

Undergraduate or graduate students interested in gaining quality research experience in the field of ICTD can apply to spend a minimum of 2 months in Macau working closely with our interdisciplinary research team. Qualified applicants who find a genuine interest in the Labs and projects currently pursued can apply by sending an application form, their CV and a cover letter to&nbsp;<a href="mailto:cs-info@unu.edu" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">cs-info@unu.edu</a>. Please make explicit the project(s) you would like to work with and how you think you might contribute. Free housing and a small stipend of US$500 per month will be offered to selected candidates. However, insurance and transportation to/from Macau are not provided.</p>
