Abstract: With estimates that around half of current jobs will be disrupted by technology in the next 10-20 years, technological unemployment has gained international attention. We will look under the hood at how these predictions are made, why we can do better, and what this means for future technological disruption research. Drawing from genomic data methodologies, we will discuss how better foundational data can reframe the narratives and solutions in this space. Sequencing the human genome transformed the health industry…Can we do the same for the future of work by sequencing skills?
