  <title><![CDATA[GT-CHOA Team Receives Scientific Award of Excellence]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>A joint Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) and Georgia Tech team headed by <a href="http://www.choa.org/default.aspx?id=1451">Dr. Atul Vats (CHOA)</a> and Professor <a href="http://www.isye.gatech.edu/faculty-staff/profile.php?entry=pk50">Pinar Keskinocak (H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial Systems and Engineering)</a> has been recognized by the <a href="http://www.sccm.org">Society for Critical Care Medicine (SCCM)</a> with a Scientific  Award for their project entitled, "A Lean Focused Rounding Process in a Pediatric  Intensive Care Unit Increases Efficiency, Optimizes Resources and Improves  Satisfaction."
</p>
<p>The award will be formally presented during the Society's Poster Award Presentation to be held on Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 in conjunction with the 39th Critical Care Congress. In addition to Dr. Vats and Professor Keskinocak, other team members include Monica Villareal and Tuba Yilmaz (Ph.D. students in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering) and Kristin Hermann Goin (a graduate of Georgia Tech's Masters in Health Systems program and currently a  service consultant at Children's). Congratulations to the team on this award.
