It provides a benchmark standard to test a supercomputer\u0026#39;s abilities to construct, search, and conduct edge-detection for undirected graphs.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech School of Computational Science and Engineering Chair\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EDavid Bader\u003C\/strong\u003E,\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EPeter Kogge\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;of the University of Notre Dame,\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EAndrew Lumsdaine\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003ERich Murphy\u003C\/strong\u003E\u0026nbsp;of Micron Technology Inc., head the Graph500 executive committee. This committee \u0026ndash; along with an International Multidisciplinary Steering Committee that comprises 30 international HPC experts from academia, national laboratories, and industry \u0026ndash; rank Graph500 machines based on the benchmark\u0026nbsp;standards.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;The supercomputers measured are used to analyze big data for cybersecurity, medical informatics, social networks, data enrichment, and symbolic networks. The list is released twice a year to coincide with the two largest high-performance computing HPC\u0026nbsp;conferences \u0026ndash; Supercomputing and International Supercomputing Conference (ISC) \u0026ndash; and it is the dominant international benchmark for analytics platforms,\u0026rdquo; said Bader.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Graph500 executive committee presented the top three:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ERIKEN Advanced Institute for Computational Science (AICS)\u0026rsquo;s K Computer\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ENational Supercomputing Center in Wuxi\u0026rsquo;s Sunway TaihuLight\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ELawrence Livermore National Laboratory\u0026rsquo;s DOE\/NNSA\/LLNL Sequoia\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn addition to the announcement of the top three and highlighting the top 10 entries, the session also provided a discussion of Kogge\u0026rsquo;s\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003ESummary of Graph500 Analytics, Kernel 2 Reference Implementation (SSSP) and Results\u003C\/em\u003E, as well as the stream benchmark discussion and proposals.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;The entries are truly international with machines from the U.S., Japan, Russia, China, Canada representing the countries with the most entries. Many other countries are represented as well amongst this year\u0026rsquo;s participants,\u0026rdquo; said Bader during the announcement ceremony.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Data intensive supercomputer applications are increasingly important workloads, especially for big data problems, but are ill-suited for most of today\u0026rsquo;s computing platforms.
