Evren Ozkaya, Ph.D. candidate in the Georgia\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  Institute of Technology, School of Industrial and Systems Engineering has been\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  awarded the John L. Imhoff Scholarship for his excellence in academic and professional\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  achievement and dedication to the industrial engineering profession by the\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  Institute of Industrial Engineers. Ozkaya is the first recipient of this distinguished\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  scholarship.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EEvren stands out among the crowd of research and professorial assistants in\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  that he can see the global application of process improvement. His research\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  and contributions span Asia, the United States and Europe. He has worked on\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  cost reduction, supply chain management, logistics and RFID (Radio Frequency\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  ID) programs in all three countries, excelling in each area. Evren combines\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  community work with organizations such as UNICEF, practical research inside\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  major corporations with teaching. He organized international seminars, a case\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  study tournament, and a career project for the \u0022European Students of Industrial\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  Engineering and Management\u0022 association comprised of 66 universities in 22\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  countries as a means of promoting the profession. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EHe is currently a Teaching Assistant of \u0022Supply Chain Modeling:\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  Manufacturing and Warehousing\u0022 class at Georgia Tech. His references for this\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  award pointed out Evren\u0027s dedication, motivation and initiative, stating his \u0022leadership\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  and organizational skills are remarkably fine tuned.\u0022  He was referred to as\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  an \u0022ambassador for expanding the impact of industrial engineers worldwide\u0022. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EEvren holds his undergraduate degree from Bilkent University in Turkey where\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  he placed 54th among 1.5 million students. He completed his Masters at Georgia\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  Tech and is in process of completing his Ph.D.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  program at Georgia Tech. IIE is proud that Evren was nominated and selected\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  for this award because he exemplifies the qualities that the late John L. Imhoff\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  desired to honor with this scholarship. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EIIE is the world\u0027s largest professional society dedicated solely to the support\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  of the industrial engineering profession and other individuals involved with\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n  improving quality, processes and productivity in all industry segments.
