The Mongolia Charity Rally \u0026mdash; which began in London and finished in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia \u0026mdash; raised money for Go Help, a U.K.-based group that provides health outreach and educational opportunities in Central Asia and Central America.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWhen they finished the journey, the team donated their vehicle \u0026mdash; a manual 2009 Ford Transit 3.2L Ambulance \u0026mdash; so that it could be used as an ambulance in Mongolia.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIyer, who just graduated with a degree in industrial engineering, said one of the trip\u0026rsquo;s highlights occurred in Switzerland when they connected with a friend, a Georgia Tech graduate, working on his Ph.D. The friend gave them a tour that included seeing a particle accelerator.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;Being the Georgia Tech nerds that we are, we got to nerd out for a day on vacation which was pretty cool,\u0026rdquo; said Iyer, who was president of Georgia Tech\u0026rsquo;s Interfraternity Council this year.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDuring the trip, the group learned how to maintain the car and overcame language and cultural barriers to interact with strangers.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;It taught me how to be a really creative communicator,\u0026rdquo; said Chirumble, who just graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. \u0026ldquo;I think you definitely grow the most when you push yourself outside your comfort zone, so I would definitely say you should go study abroad and go try new things, things you wouldn\u0026rsquo;t normally do, and get uncomfortable and learn something about yourself.\u0026rdquo;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":"","field_summary_sentence":[{"value":"Tony Chirumble and Rohan Iyer were among the five Georgia Tech students who completed the Mongolia Charity Rally last summer.
