  <title><![CDATA[Baker Returns from China after Working as Visiting Scholar at Beihang University]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Paul M.A. Baker, senior director for research and strategic innovation at the&nbsp;<a href="http://cacp.gatech.edu/">Center for Advanced Communications Policy (CACP)</a>, traveled to Beijing, China, in October 2017 to work as an invited visiting scholar at the Beihang University School of Economics and Management.</p>

<p>While at Beihang,&nbsp;<a href="http://paulmbaker.gatech.edu/">Baker</a>&nbsp;worked with faculty and doctoral students in several areas, including policy approaches to increase participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) disciplines, particularly among people with disabilities. Other areas included workforce innovation and postsecondary education, and technology and the &ldquo;future of work.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Beihang University is a &ldquo;comprehensive research university covering engineering, natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences, encompassing three campuses with over 30,000 full-time students and nearly 4,000 faculty and staff,&rdquo;&nbsp;according to its website.</p>

<p>CACP, a unit of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at the Georgia Institute of Technology, focuses on issues influencing the development, implementation, and adoption of cutting-edge communications technologies. Key areas of research involve wireless communications and platforms, accessible technology design and use, emergency alerts and communications, higher education policy and evaluation, and workforce development, and employment for people with disabilities.</p>
