Joe Bankoff, chair of the Sam Nunn School, opened the event, which also featured remarks by Gen. Phillip Breedlove, distinguished professor and a senior fellow at the Center for European and Transatlantic Studies at Georgia Tech.

The event was sponsored by the Brookings Institution and the Charles Koch Institute, and moderated by Michael Crowley of Politico.

It was the third in a series sponsored by the organizations to discuss the United States’ role in the world.
