{"601804":{"#nid":"601804","#data":{"type":"event","title":"DOS Seminar - Roy Schwartz","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ETITLE: Fast and Simple Algorithms for Submodular Maximization\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EABSTRACT\u003C\/strong\u003E: Submodular maximization captures both classical problems in combinatorial optimization and practical applications that arise in other disciplines, e.g., machine learning and data mining.\u0026nbsp;The size of the inputs in these applications is usually very large.\u0026nbsp;Hence, it is interesting to devise approximation algorithms that in addition to providing a provable guarantee are also very fast and simple to use.\u0026nbsp;In this talk, I will present several such examples from recent years.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EBIO:\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ERoy Schwartz is an assistant professor at the Computer Science Department at the Technion.
