No matter what stage you are in with flipped classrooms, come learn something useful (an inspiring) during this Teaching with Technology Spotlight session. Dr. Carrie Shepler, the director of first-year chemistry in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry, will share her successful experience and best practices of flipping her large chemistry classes by using a “semi-flipped” classroom model:

• She delivers some content in class in a fairly traditional lecture that incorporates clicker question polling for just-in-time teaching and engaging students.
• She assigns videos for students to watch outside of class for other material in order to free up class time for higher-level activities that involve applications of concepts, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

Join us in this session to find out about how flipped classrooms can be planned, designed, and implemented to create a positive, enjoyable, and productive environment for both instructors and students.
