Healthy Places Research Group Meeting

Please join us on February 20th for a presentation by Dr. Michael Elliott, Associate Professor jointly appointed to the Schools of City and Regional Planning and Public Policy here at Georgia Tech.

What is the impact on the climate resilience capacities of urban slum dwellers when the communities themselves are empowered to assess their climate-induced health vulnerabilities and take resilience action? India, Bangladesh and Nepal are amongst the countries most threatened by climate change. The dense urban populations are particularly susceptible, with the most vulnerable living in informal settlements. This translates to 190 million people in South Asia. This session presents the working model and evaluation findings of an action research project to build local coping mechanisms and adaptation technologies for climate-resilience capacities of urban poor living in 100 informal settlements in seven cities in South Asia.
