{"603676":{"#nid":"603676","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Students Discuss Corporate Responsibility with Chicago Mayor","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EChicago Mayor \u003Cstrong\u003ERahm Emanuel\u003C\/strong\u003E and a group of business leaders were in Atlanta last week visiting students at local higher ed institutions.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EFollowing stops at Spelman College and Morehouse College, the Windy City contingent visited Georgia Tech to meet with a group of students from the colleges of Computing and Engineering.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOne of the key topics of discussion was corporate responsibility.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;The biggest challenge every mayor of a global city has is figuring out how an economy that has so much promise can also address all of the peril that\u0026rsquo;s right next store,\u0026rdquo; Emanuel said replying to a student question.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;We want to make sure companies are not just writing a check to charity to clear their conscience, but that they are actually doing something for the community.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMore than 50 students were invited to attend the event, held March 8 in the Wardlaw Building.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;It was a delightful experience,\u0026rdquo; said second-year computer science student \u003Cstrong\u003EAnushk\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E Mittal\u003C\/strong\u003E. \u0026ldquo;Connecting with business leaders in Chicago doesn\u0026rsquo;t happen every day unless you\u0026rsquo;re at Georgia Tech.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.thinkchicago.net\/\u0022\u003EThinkChicago\u003C\/a\u003E, which promotes Chicago\u0026rsquo;s tech industry, sponsored the event.
