{"603856":{"#nid":"603856","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Woojin Han Selected to Speak","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EWoojin Han, a postdoctoral researcher at the Georgia Institute of Technology, has been selected to present his research at the PMSE (Polymeric Materials: Science \u0026amp; Engineering) Future Faculty Symposium in Boston this summer.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHan, who is co-advised by two researchers in the Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience at Georgia Tech,\u0026nbsp;Andr\u0026eacute;s Garc\u0026iacute;a and Young Jang,\u0026nbsp;will share his research on engineering synthetic material to deliver muscle stem cells to treat conditions like skeletal muscle injury, or genetic disorders like Duchenne muscular dystrophy.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe symposium, part of the American Chemical Society\u0026rsquo;s annual meeting (August 19-23), will feature oral presentations by more than 20 postdoctoral scientists working in polymeric materials fields, all of them planning to apply to academic positions during Fall 2018 for appointments beginning in 2019.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe Future Faculty symposium will be spread out among two full days and feature keynote speakers who will share their insights regarding the academic career path. Selected speakers are also invited to participate in a reception to meet each other, keynote speakers and invited guests from academia and other sectors.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;The symposium is a great opportunity for me,\u0026rdquo; says Han, who earned his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania. \u0026ldquo;This fall will be an exciting transitionary period for me, a time when I start networking more aggressively.
