{"605854":{"#nid":"605854","#data":{"type":"news","title":"CSE Discusses Research with Industry Leaders at the 2018 Strategic Partnership Summit ","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe School of Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) held its third annual\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.cse.gatech.edu\/content\/school-cse-strategic-partnership-program\u0022\u003EStrategic Partnership Program\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;(SPP) Summit, May 1.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe annual partners-only meeting puts industry and government representatives in an intimate setting with peers from research and academia to discuss current and future needs from research, while introducing students to potential employers.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe summit included a welcoming speech by College of Computing Dean\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EZvi Galil\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003Eand a CSE overview by School Chair\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EDavid Bader\u003C\/strong\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;This was a highly successful summit for the CSE SPP program. We had some of the top minds from industry and government including Accenture, Booz Allen Hamilton, Ford Motors, HPCC Systems, IBM, Keysight Technologies, National Security Agency, NVIDIA, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and Sandia National Laboratories come to discuss the current standings of our research, and how we can all move forward together into the future,\u0026rdquo; said Bader.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe agenda included research updates on exascale computing by Associate Professor\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EEdmond Chow\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003Eand\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.cse.gatech.edu\/news\/603063\/deep-learning-can-now-help-prevent-heart-failure\u0022\u003Eartificial intelligence systems in health care\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;by Associate Professor\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EJimeng Sun\u003C\/strong\u003E.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;Senior Research Scientist\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003EJason Riedy provided an overview and update on the\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/crnch.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ECenter for Research into Novel Computing Hierarchies\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;(CRNCH)\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/crnch.gatech.edu\/rogues-gallery\u0022\u003ERogues Gallery\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;and Associate Chair for Academic Programs\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026Uuml;mit \u0026Ccedil;ataly\u0026uuml;rek\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003Eoffered a CSE curriculum presentation.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe agenda also include Georgia Tech Executive Director of Real Estate\u0026nbsp;\u003Cstrong\u003ETony Zivalich,\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003Ewho gave a presentation on the\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/codatechsquare.com\/\u0022\u003ECoda\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;building currently being built in Tech Square. Despite other schools from Georgia Tech operating in Coda, CSE will be the only school that will move all staff, operations, research, faculty, and students into the building when it opens. The school is currently scheduled to move in to the new building in mid-2019.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe meeting concluded with panel discussions and notes about research being conducted within the school and how it could be best tailored to current day problems or goals within the private and government sectors represented at the meeting.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;In our partnership program, we are looking for true partners to the school and to our research.
