They were competing against five other finalists, culled from 500-plus applicants, for $100,000 in funding and access to office space and mentorship from TechSquare Labs.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026ldquo;\u003C\/strong\u003EThe Atlanta Startup Battle win provides us with an invaluable opportunity to work with seasoned mentors and entrepreneurs to validate our business model and target more customer segments,\u0026rdquo; Bijlani said. \u0026ldquo;We can\u0026rsquo;t wait to see what the future holds for us.\u0026rdquo;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOSSPolice is a cloud-based tool for mobile app developers to easily and quickly identify OSS license violations and security vulnerabilities. This is a promising tool in a climate where many developers use open-source code for their apps but do not have the time or resources to ensure the code is uncompromised.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe tool has been gaining momentum since they first \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.scs.gatech.edu\/news\/598310\/georgia-tech-researchers-introduce-osspolice-find-oss-vulnerabilities-and-license\u0022\u003Epresented\u003C\/a\u003E their paper at \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ccs2017.sigsac.org\/index.html\u0022\u003EACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security\u003C\/a\u003E last October. In April, the team \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/cyber.gatech.edu\/results-cybersecurity-demo-day-finale-2018?_ga=2.5835507.1581627886.1525972379-252725775.1501600503\u0022\u003Ewon\u003C\/a\u003E $125,000 at Tech\u0026rsquo;s Cybersecurity Demo Day.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe app has evolved throughout the months into a full-featured cloud-based auto technology to scan mobile app stores. It has also garnered interest from businesses such as Artifex, which sells its software under dual open-source\/commercial license.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EBusinesses like this may want to use the OSSPolice audit technology to detect freeloaders and approach them to sell its proprietary services. Bijlani and Duan are also talking to businesses that want to proactively scan their internal apps for legal and security risks.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe team hopes to use the battle money to build the first version of the tool that customers can use and provide feedback on.
