We will provide garbage bins so your lab can throw out any supplies that cannot be traded or recycled, or that don\u0026#39;t need special attention (see instructions for chemical disposal and supply swapping below).\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ESWAP-O-RAMA\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDuring our clean-up week, we will have tables set up in the building atrium. Leave items that can be swapped on the tables, let your colleagues know they\u0026#39;re there, and smile, knowing that \u003Cstrong\u003E\u003Cem\u003Eyour trash is someone else\u0026#39;s treasure. :)\u003C\/em\u003E\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EOnly items from the Petit Biotechnology Building labs may be donated, but anyone may help themselves to the goodies!\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nItems that can be swapped include:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EIntact glassware\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EUnopened plastic ware\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ENon-contaminated materials\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EOld non-inventoried equipment*\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E*If you have inventoried equipment that you would like to get rid of, please contact \u003Ca href=\u0022mailto:allen.echols@ibb.gatech.edu\u0022\u003EAllen Echols\u003C\/a\u003E with the tag number.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EChemicals, broken glassware and contaminated materials should not be included in this event, but must be disposed of properly. \u003C\/strong\u003EAny items remaining on the tables in the atrium on Friday, June 22 @ 12 noon will be disposed of by Petit Institute\/GT facilities.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\n\u003Cstrong\u003EChemical Inventory\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EIdentify chemicals that must be disposed through Environmental Health \u0026amp; Safety (EH\u0026amp;S).\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EChemicals that have not been used in the past two years should be identified for disposal.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ETo dispose of chemicals, create a waste card in the \u0026quot;Waste\u0026quot; module of Chematix. Once a waste card has been submitted, EH\u0026amp;S will schedule a pick-up time. Essential information on the waste card must include point-of-contact, location of waste and phone number.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003EIf chemicals may be used by other personnel, they can be designated as \u0026quot;Surplus,\u0026quot; which allows others to request the chemical and transfer it\/them to the requesting lab.\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003ESurplus chemicals may be stored in your lab with that designation for two weeks maximum.
