{"606801":{"#nid":"606801","#data":{"type":"news","title":"FBI: Reset your Router or Face Russian Malware","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EIt\u0026rsquo;s not every day that the Federal Bureau of Investigation gives you an order.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOn May 25 the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.ic3.gov\/media\/2018\/180525.aspx\u0022\u003EFBI asked members of the public\u003C\/a\u003E to turn off and turn back on their routers because of the spread of malware called \u0026ldquo;VPNFilter\u0026rdquo; created and distributed by the Russian hacker network Sofacy.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech Senior Research Scientist Charles \u0026ldquo;Chaz\u0026rdquo; Lever explained the damage this malware can do:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;This malware will affect the average user by using one of the capabilities in the malware to passively collect traffic. This can be used to harvest banking credentials or other sensitive password information that is going over the home network.
