Sonic Generator will also present music on a smaller scale: a work by Austrian computer-music maverick Karlheinz Essl combines toy piano with amplified sounds to create quiet, meditative resonances.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIn celebration of its fifth anniversary season, Sonic Generator reprises music by Jonathan Kramer for clarinet and live electronics. Sonic Generator performed the piece on its inaugural concert, collaborating with Georgia Tech students and faculty to recreate the work\u2019s analog tape-loop system in the digital realm. The show also features music by Randall Woolf, a long-time favorite composer of Sonic Generator audiences; a nature-inspired work by composer and percussionist Nathan Davis; and violin music by Jesper Nordin, whose music combines elements of Swedish folk music, rock music, and improvisation.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ESonic Generator, Georgia Tech\u2019s chamber music ensemble-in-residence, explores the ways in which technology can transform how we create, perform, and listen to music. The ensemble, comprised of some of the top classical musicians in Atlanta, works closely with Georgia Tech faculty and students to present concerts that bring cutting-edge technologies to the world of contemporary classical music. Sonic Generator was recently recognized by Atlanta Magazine in its 2009 \u201cBest of Atlanta\u201d list.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThis concert is sponsored by Georgia Tech\u2019s College of Architecture, where students, faculty, and researchers work across boundaries to advance knowledge of designed environments at all scales, producing new realms of experience and creativity.
