As an external faculty member, Randall\u0026nbsp;will virtually collaborate with other researchers contributing her experience and expertise\u0026nbsp;in theoretical computer science, as well as her research in randomized algorithms and stochastic processes in computer science, discrete mathematics, and statistical physics.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026ldquo;No aspect of science is going to continue the way it was. New ways of analyzing and integrating the massive datasets being generated in most fields of science and engineering are transforming those disciplines and challenging long-held\u0026nbsp;notions about what can be accomplished,\u0026rdquo;\u0026nbsp;Randall said in an interview with GT Computing in 2017.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ERandall,\u0026nbsp;who is co-director of Georgia Tech\u0026#39;s\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/ideas.gatech.edu\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EInstitute for Data Engineering and Science\u003C\/a\u003E, is one of 10\u0026nbsp;external faculty members selected this year by SFI. In all, SFI\u0026nbsp;has more than 100 external faculty\u0026nbsp;members from across a variety of disciplines.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/santafe.edu\/news-center\/news\/new-external-faculty-announced-2018\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003ESFI\u0026#39;s news release states\u003C\/a\u003E, \u0026ldquo;Randall is widely recognized as an expert. Some of her \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.scientificamerican.com\/article\/ldquo-smarticle-rdquo-robot-swarms-turn-random-behavior-into-collective-intelligence\/\u0022\u003Erecent work\u003C\/a\u003E has been dedicated to creating mathematical models for phase transitions and emergent phenomena.
